Securely strapped to the wing of a beautifully restored Stearman biplane, you'll savor the rush of the wind as you take in stunning aerial vistas. Your adventure begins with a warm welcome from our skilled team, who will ensure you feel comfortable and safe as you prepare for the flight.
Once airborne, the expert display pilot will showcase incredible maneuvers as you stand proudly atop the wing. Subtle coaching from our professional wing walkers will guide you on how to maintain your balance and embrace the exhilarating sensation of flight. Feel your heart race as you loop and barrel roll, all while standing on the wing of a plane! This is your chance to not just watch but truly experience aviation.
After touching down, the thrill doesn’t stop there. You’ll have the opportunity to share your adventure with friends and family, reliving every heart-pounding moment. Capturing the joy and excitement of this once-in-a-lifetime experience with a unique photo opportunity is a must!
When Is It Available
• Selected weekdays and occasional Saturdays between March and October
• For the safety of passengers, flights are subject to suitable weather conditions
• Participants will be contacted after 3pm the day before their flight if the weather is unsuitable
• The pilot will continue to assess conditions prior to the flight and should they consider the weather not to be suitable, flights will be postponed or re-scheduled
Suitable For
• Minimum age 18 (no maximum age)
• Maximum height 6ft 2ins (188cms)
• Maximum weight 14 stone (88kgs)
• Maximum waist measurement (including layers of clothing and a jacket 40 inches (102 cms)
• Participants must be able to climb up and down from the top of the wing on the bi-plane (steep climb of approximately 10ft/3m)
• Wingwalkers must not have suffered from any of the following conditions: Epilepsy, fits, severe head injury, recurrent blackouts, fainting fits or giddiness, disease of the brain or nervous system, heart or lung disease, recurrent weakness or dislocation of any limb, mental illness, drug or alcohol addiction
Spectators
• Spectators are welcome to watch your wingwalking experience from the restored WW1 Officers Mess, boasting fabulous views of the private airfield
• The Officers Mess/Club House has furniture indoors and outdoors, offering the perfect place to watch the wingwalkers zoom by
• Guests are welcome to bring snacks/picnic
• Hot beverages are available to purchase on site
• Guests must remain within the designated spectator area at all times
• Young children must be under constant supervision by an adult
• Dogs are welcome but must remain on a lead
• To avoid missing the wingwalkers experience, spectators should arrive at the same time as the participant
Anything Else
• You may use your wingwalking experience to raise money for charity and video footage can be provided upon request to assist with your campaign
• Participants should wear tight clothing. Warm layers are recommended and a coat without a hood
• Hand held cameras are not permitted due to the strong winds
• Trainers or soft grippy soled secure shoes should be worn
• Some body mounted cameras are not suitable (including helmets and head-cams) however participants are welcome to bring along any cameras and mounts/harnesses for the pilot to assess the suitability
• Most types of glasses can be worn underneath the wingwalking goggles
• Contact lenses can be worn, but occasionally they can become dislodged so do bring a spare pair of glasses
• You will be secured to the wingwalking rig by a CAA approved safety harness by a professional wingwalker
• Aerobatic manoeuvres (loop-the-loop and barrel rolls are not available for first time wingwalkers. If high adrenaline rides are required the pilot will tailor the flight and can include steep dips and dives, wing overs and banked turns. Alternatively more sedate flights are available too!
