Lynx Helicopter Simulator Experience

Step into the cockpit of our state-of-the-art Lynx Helicopter Simulator and unleash your inner pilot! This unique experience allows you to take off, hover, and navigate a military helicopter, all while feeling the adrenaline rush of flight,all from a secure location.

Located just beyond the perimeter of RAF Mildenhall, between Ely and Bury St Edmunds, this extraordinary helicopter simulator is operated by ex-SAAF airman Kenneth Mockford. With countless hours poured into recreating realistic flying experiences, you'll be amazed by the authenticity and attention to detail. The simulator is crafted from the shell of an actual military Westland Lynx helicopter, noted for its robust performance during its service. A quick search of the helicopter’s registration number, XZ195, reveals a rich history of deployment during key military operations.

Constructed in 1978, this AH1 series Lynx served valiantly with the Army Air Corps before its remarkable transformation into a fully operational simulator. Although it has retired from active duty, you will still find many of the functionalities intact, so you can experience what it was like for pilots serving in theaters like the Falklands War or Iraq. While some military systems remain classified, Kenneth has worked diligently to make your virtual flight as true-to-life as possible.

60 Minute Lynx Experience

• 15 Minute Briefing and 45 minute session in the Lynx simulator

90 Minute Lynx Experience

• 15 Minute Briefing and 75 minute session in the Lynx simulator

When Is It Available

• Choose from a weekday only voucher available Tuesdays to Fridays or to include Saturdays opt for an anytime voucher
• Sessions are available between 9.30am and 5pm

Suitable For

• Minimum age 10
• Under 18s must be accompanied by a spectating adult
• Minimum height 5ft
• Participants will require a degree of mobility
• Airline seat size restrictions apply
• No wheelchair access

Spectators

• One person may accompany you in the simulator as a spectator for no additional charge
• Minimum spectator age is 10 and must remain seated for the duration of the flight
• There is a waiting area for additional people (maximum of 4) which must be booked prior to your visit

• This is a fixed base/ static simulator and does not move
