Prepare to embark on an unforgettable journey in aviation with our comprehensive half-day pilot experience at Coventry Airport. This thrilling adventure allows you to dive deep into the daily life of a pilot, complete with both airborne and ground exercises designed to give you a true taste of flying.

Your day begins with a warm welcome from your instructor pilot, where you'll be briefed on the day ahead. Settle in with a refreshing drink as you gear up for an exciting adventure. After this introductory session, you'll step outside for pre-flight checks, inspecting the aircraft with expert guidance. It’s all about ensuring everything is perfect before you take to the skies!

Once inside the cockpit, you’ll learn to verify all onboard systems and controls. From there, you’ll explore essential flight planning in the classroom, uncovering how pilots prepare routes while checking weather updates and safety information. Dive into the fascinating world of NOTAMs and create comprehensive flight plans, gaining insight essential for any aspiring aviator.

With your route charted and aircraft ready, it’s time to take off! You’ll seize the controls as you navigate the outward leg of your journey, communicating with the control tower and maintaining a keen eye on your path. Your active participation ensures you experience the thrill of being a pilot firsthand, all while under the watchful guidance of your instructor.

After landing at your chosen airfield, take a breather and engage in a chat about your journey before you prepare for the return leg. As you switch roles, step into the shoes of a navigator to ensure the flight stays on course and on schedule!

The day culminates with a debrief where you'll reflect on the experience and learn more about what it takes to pursue a pilot’s license. What's Included

Itinerary 

• Welcome and introduction to the day
• The 'A' Check: A thorough pre-flight check of the aircraft systems and the reasons behind the check
• Introduction and Briefing (Classroom Session): The instructor will talk you through the aspects of becoming a private pilot which includes medicals, theoretical training, flight training and exams. You'll also have a brief on the basic controls of the aircraft and their effects
• Pre-Flight Planning (Classroom Session):  With the instruction team, gain an insight on how to plan a route in its basic form and how to fly the planned route. You'll review the weather, aircraft performance and plan the outbound and return flight and include diversion options
• The Flights:  With our planning and preparation complete you will fly to the planned destination and land. You'll then set off for the return journey with the assistance of your instructor should this be required

• Occasional Saturdays maybe available if booking well in advance
• Flights are subject to weather conditions and availability

• Under 18's must be accompanied by an adult on the airfield
• Maximum weight 16 stone

• Spectators are welcome to observe your take off and landing
