Bladesmithing Experience in Cheshire

Prepare for a fantastic day filled with creativity and craftsmanship! In this immersive one-day workshop, you will roll up your sleeves and step into the shoes of a bladesmith at a historic blacksmith’s forge in Ellesmere Port. Under the expert guidance of Alex, you’ll learn the art of hand-forging. The atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming, perfect for both beginners and those looking to refine their skills.

Throughout the day, you will be introduced to essential tools and techniques, including how to properly heat, shape, and temper metal. With every strike of the hammer, you’ll witness your knife taking form, transforming raw materials into a functional piece of art. It’s not just about the crafting; it’s about the stories, traditions, and skills passed down through generations.

As you work, enjoy the camaraderie of fellow participants and share in the excitement of creating something truly special. By the end of the day, you’ll leave not only with your handcrafted knife but also with memories and skills that you can carry forward in your own crafting adventures.

What's Included

• Enjoy a Bladesmithing day in a genuine Victorian Forge built in 1885
• Expert Tuition from an experienced Bladesmith
• Learn traditional bladesmithing techniques using the fire, hammer and anvil
• Learn how to forge a bespoke handforged blade you can call your own
• Take home your forged creation
• You will form part of a small group of up to four participants

When Is It Available

• Designated Saturdays and Wednesdays throughout the year. If you are looking for an alternative weekday, please enquire in advance
• Dates are subject to availability
• Sessions start at 10am finishing at approximately 4pm
• Half an hour lunchbreak (not provided) best to bring a packed lunch

• A good general level of fitness is required for this experience
